Music City Baseball, the group looking to bring an MLB team, which will be called the Nashville Stars, to Nashville, has high hopes a major league baseball expansion team will come to Nashville in the coming years. Those pushing for an MLB team in Nashville say a new baseball stadium would be another positive for the economy, creating 2500 jobs and more than $12 billion in economic impact over 30 years. At the time of this article’s publication, there are no concrete plans for a Nashville MLB team to be established, but plans are moving forward for a major league ballpark to be built in Nashville.
Music City Baseball board member Lee Barfield estimates the new stadium will cost at least $1.2 billion dollars to build and may cost more if it has a retractable roof. The ballpark will seat 40,000 and will be located south of Victory Ave and S 1st St, putting it next to the Titans’ new Nissan Stadium, which is currently under construction and is estimated to be complete in 2027.
