[2024] Planned Ambulatory Surgery Center Construction in Texas
At the moment, there is more planned ambulatory surgery center construction in Texas than there is in any other state in the country in terms of number of projects. As of 11/30/23, BuildCentral’sMedicalConstructionData product is keeping tabs on 18 planned or under-construction ambulatory surgery center projects in Texas alone.
“Ambulatory surgery centers—known as ASCs—are modern healthcare facilities focused on providing same-day surgical care, including diagnostic and preventive procedures. ASCs have transformed the outpatient experience for millions of Americans by providing them with a more convenient alternative to hospital-based outpatient procedures—and done so with a strong track record of quality care and positive patient outcomes.” (Advancing Surgical Care)
Because Texas is the U.S.’s second-most populous state with approximately 29 million residents, it isn’t necessarily surprising that it is teeming with ambulatory surgery center (ASC) construction. What is notable, however, is the fact that Texas has over 70 percent more planned or ongoing ASC projects than the next-closest state. In light of Texas’s heightened ambulatory surgery center construction activity, we thought we’d highlight some of Texas’s most notable ASC projects both in planning and under construction.
