[2022] Notable Planned Cancer Center Construction in New York
Here, we highlight some of 2022’s most notable planned cancer center construction in New York.
Using BuildCentral’s MedicalConstructionData (MCD), we identified New York State as one of the country’s hot spots for planned cancer center construction. At the time of this article’s writing, according to MCD, New York State has nine cancer centers either in planning or under construction, more than any other state. Three of those projects are based within New York City itself.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, need for new cancer centers and improvements to already-standing facilities has increased. Immunocompromised cancer patients require more – and more specialized – care and treatment, and they also represent a demographic that has seen medical attention get harder to come by while trying to avoid contracting the virus. Concerns are emerging that heightened restrictions and caution regarding medical visits and public outings during the pandemic may have delayed or prevented entirely numerous cancer screenings across the country.
